Prof. Kawango Agot, PhD, MPH,is the founder and Director of Impact Research and Development Organizaton (IRDO). Although registered on January 23rd 2003, it began operatng in 1999 in Dr. Kawango´s living room. At that tme, she was carrying out two studies: one towards her PhD in Medical Geography (Widow Inheritance and HIV) and another towards her MPH in Epidemiology (Male Circumcision and HIV) obtained concurrently from the University of Washington, Seatle, USA. Impact Research and Development Organisation (IRDO), is a local non-governmental organisation in Kenya registered in 2003 with its headquarters in Kisumu, Western Kenya. Its principal mandate is to design and implement public health programs and research studies that beneft vulnerable populations, especially young people and women in Kenya.
